After Years of Research, HelpMe2Teach.com is a Welcomed Resource for Parents, Students, and Teachers Across the Internet

By Elaine Taylor, MA and Kevin S. Taylor, MBA

Among the many Internet-based services offered by Las Vegas Web Design company Expert Website Services LLC, www.Helpme2teach.com, is a unique product which was developed to assist parents, teachers and students in kindergarten through high school. The website itself is an intense, database-driven, educational website directory for all phases of academia. The content was developed and refined over with almost a decade of research and development by an educator with over 40 years of classroom experience, teaching credentials in two states, and expertise in the areas of curriculum development and home school consulting.

The teacher that spawned the idea was working as an educator for a virtual charter school with limited support with regard to curriculum. She began surfing the web to find educational resources and began sharing them with others, spending literally thousands of hours separating the appropriate sites from the advertisements and inappropriate media. The initial list of websites contained only 700 links categorized by subject matter, age appropriateness, and whether they were geared toward the parent, student, or educator. Even with a list of 700 sites; however, the challenge was keeping the links updated. It was a daunting and almost full-time task to manage the links and replace some resources with new ones when their respective sources had moved or shut down. The project has grown tremendously from this initial list and now contains several thousand resources at any given time. The links are checked daily and automatically removed so that a user is not troubled by links that do not work. New websites are manually added after being reviewed by the educational department for appropriateness on a daily basis.

From the Chairman of the Board

Kevin S. Taylor, MBA

Serving as Chairman of the Board in 2010 presents an equal share of both challenges and opportunities. I am fortunate to have this opportunity in such a strong community with a responsive and sound organization. This year, a variety of committees are working hard to strengthen the BBB’s local presence. As an organization, we are urging consumers to Start with Trust® by checking with the local BBB before doing business with a merchant or while considering new vendors. We are also asking Accredited Businesses to display their Accreditation mark proudly so consumers can shop with confidence.

In 2009, the BBB of Southern Nevada expeditiously handled 21,540 complaints about local businesses. Many of these businesses were not accredited by the BBB. With recent state budget cuts resulting in the closure of the State Department of Consumer Affairs, the BBB anticipates a much higher number in 2010.

I would encourage local business owners to give preference to BBB Accredited Businesses because these establishments agree to conduct business in an ethical manner. Accredited Businesses are much faster and amenable to resolving any disputes that may arise. As a consumer, checking with the BBB should always be the first step in conducting any business.

These are local companies that enhance the positive image of small business through service to their customers and community.

Various sources of information were gathered and analyzed to choose the winners in each category. The 2009 USCA Award Program focused on quality, not quantity. Winners are determined based on the information gathered both internally by the USCA and data provided by third parties.

Every business owner knows that the economic conditions in the United States, and globally, leave little to be desired. After a year in an economic recession, almost everyone has been effected in one way or another. Even Expert Website Services has had to evaluate its strategic plan. As we enter 2009, my company has the same position it held one year ago … WE REFUSE TO PARTICIPATE IN A RECESSION.

That being said, this section will contain weekly updates regarding the rapid growth of Expert Website Services despite external circumstances. If anyone would like to learn how they do not have to participate in the recession, they can e-mail me directly; or, take a look at www.bnilasvegas.com for more information!
