Some business owners find it confusing  to understand the difference between their website domain name and their hosting account. A domain name can be renewed in 1-year increments for up to 10 years at a time. A person only owns the domain name for as long as they maintain current domain name registration.

If a domain name is allowed to expire then your website and email will no longer work.

An expired domain name may still be available for a short period of time. However, a substantial administrative fee is often required to renew a domain name once it has expired. In some cases, a domain name may not be renewable after it expires.
